The challenge

Big projects, not small jobs

Matt doesn't want to fill his calendar with quick cleanups and one-off mowing jobs. His business runs on high-value design-build projects: full outdoor transformations that take planning, design and a real budget.

That changes how ads need to work. In landscaping, plenty of clicks come from people looking for small, cheap jobs. Paying for those clicks wastes money and wastes Matt's time on calls that will never turn into a project. The goal was simple: more qualified leads for the projects he actually wants to win.

Our approach

Three channels, one plan

Instead of relying on a single platform, we run three types of ads that each catch homeowners at a different moment:

Google AdsCatches homeowners who are actively searching for a landscape designer or builder in Matt's area.
Local Services AdsPuts Matt at the very top of Google with the Google Guaranteed badge, and he pays per lead, not per click.
Meta AdsShows his best finished projects to homeowners nearby on Facebook and Instagram, before they even start searching.

Built around project value

Every campaign is built around the projects Matt wants to win, not just the most clicks. We judge success by signed proposals, not by how cheap a click is.

Every lead tracked

Calls and form leads are tracked, so we know which campaigns bring in real projects and which ones just spend money. That's what lets us keep cutting waste month after month.

Ongoing, hands-on management

We still manage every campaign today: testing new ads, adjusting budgets between channels and reporting back in plain English every month.

The results

$564,456 in accepted proposals in three months

Between August and October 2025, Matt's accepted proposals added up to $564,456.54, on $4,192.56 in ad spend over the same period.

Why we measure signed projects, not clicks

Matt's Google Ads cost $157.16 per conversion in 2025. For a cheap one-off job, that would be too much. For a design-build project, it's a small price for a real opportunity.

What this means for you

Lessons for landscapers and home service contractors

  1. Measure signed projects, not cheap clicks. A higher cost per lead is fine when the leads are worth it. Track what each lead turns into.
  2. Use more than one channel. Google catches people searching, Local Services Ads build trust at the top of the page, and Facebook and Instagram show off your work.
  3. Track every call and form. If you can't see which ad brought in a project, you can't put more money behind what's working.
  4. Give it time and keep improving. Matt's results come from campaigns we've kept managing and improving since day one, not a one-time setup.

Not a landscaper? The same approach works for other home service businesses. A new deck contractor client got 17 conversions in their first 26 days on Google Ads, for $558 in ad spend.

Common questions

Google Ads for landscapers, answered

How much do Google Ads cost for a landscaping company?

It depends on your services, your area and how much work you want. Matt's Google Ads cost $157.16 per conversion in 2025, which made sense because his design-build projects are worth far more than a mowing job. In a free review, we recommend a starting budget for your market before anything runs.

Do Local Services Ads work for landscapers?

They can. Local Services Ads put you at the very top of Google with the Google Guaranteed badge, and you pay per lead instead of per click. We run them alongside Google Ads and Meta Ads for Matt.

How long does it take to see results from Google Ads?

Every market is different. As one example, a new deck contractor client got 17 conversions in their first 26 days on Google Ads, for $558 in ad spend.

Do you only run ads for landscapers?

The green industry is our main focus, and we also run ads for other home service businesses, like deck builders.
